Mission Statement

The mission of the Columbus Forensic Laboratory is to provide efficient and quality forensic services for our customers through precise and comprehensive analyses utilizing up-to-date technology. This mission will be accomplished by innovative, highly-skilled, unbiased professionals with vision and integrity.

About Us

The Columbus Forensic Laboratory houses three full-time Forensic Scientists and one full-time Forensic Scientist Trainee. The Columbus Forensic Lab offers several services including:

·         AFIX Database Search

·         Cellular Device Analysis

·         Drug Analysis

·         Evidence Maintenance

·         Fingerprint Analysis

·         Latent Print Processing

·         Major Crime Scene Response

The Forensic Division is constantly adding new abilities to its list of services.

What We Can Do for Your Agency

The Columbus Forensic Laboratory is now processing cases for outside agencies. Please contact the Columbus Police Department at 662-244-3500 to reach lab personnel that can provide you with information on analytical services, pricing, and logistics.

Internship & Job Shadowing Program

The Columbus Forensic Lab offers positions for internships and job shadowing. One internship position is open per college semester. For your application to be considered it must be complete and submitted at least one month before the course required start date. Complete the Internship or Job Shadowing Application (PDF) and mail the forms to:

Afix Database

The AFIX database allows quick searches of latent prints, recovered from crime scenes, against fingerprint databases containing thousands of known fingerprints.

Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant

As of July 6, 2020, the Columbus Forensic Lab intends to use its allotment of the Edward Byrne Memorial 2020 JAG funding to purchase and install new testing and safety equipment for the controlled substance testing lab.
